Traditional Acupunture is a comprehensively holistic medical system which offers far more than relief from headaches or help with weight control. Traditional acupuncture is a system of medicine based upon principles of balance and harmony within a person's whole being. In this light, disease, in whatever form it takes (Migraine, PMT, cancer, depression, asthma, angina, insomnia etc.) is seen as a symptom of an unbalanced system. An analogy may make this clearer: when a car doesn't start, you don't rush out and fit a new starter motor, instead you examine the whole engine to determine why the car won't start, perhaps the coil is gone or the battery is flat. the inability to start is a signal that the engine is out of order and putting the engine back into order is the skill of the mechanic. Similarly the skill of the acupuncturist is to see that the arthritis or the pain or the ulcer, etc., is the signal that the person's system is out of order and the best possible treatment plan is to put the system into better balance and order and so re-enable the body's immense capacity to repair itself. Treatment is aimed at re-balancing and re-harmonising a person's whole system, thus re-enabling nature's own healing processes to begin to repair and heal the person. Additionally, because the treatment is aimed at a person's whole system, not only does the main complaint improve, but also other, perhaps less worrying, problems improve.

What is Natural Healing?

Our health is governed, absolutely, by five principles:

1. Intake - what goes into our body.
2. Output - what comes out of our body.
3. Movement - movement of the whole body.
4. Circulation - circulation of body fluids.
5. Mental Attitude - our thoughts and emotions influence our health.

If we are ill in any way, it means that our body's ability to heal is impaired or inhibited and in order to become well again we must adjust these five principles so that the healing is able to take place. An appropriate herbal remedy of fennel seed or dandelion root would also be helpful. Vega-testing is the name given to a testing procedure using a Vega machine, which enables an investigation into the functioning of a person's system. ALLERGY TESTING

The Vega Machine readings producing a positive or negative response. This is interpreted as an allergic or non-allergic reaction to the substance. Asthma, rhinitis, eczema, psoriasis, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches/migraines, depression, irritability, hyperactivity and many other symptoms besides can arise as an allergic/intolerant response. Once the allergens are know, then steps can be taken to reduce or eliminate exposure to the offending substance with a consequent improvement in health. However, allergies in themselves may not be the final answer, - being allergic should be seen as a symptom of a stressed system, and in this circumstance, identifying and resolving the stresses (stress factors include toxins, viruses, bacterial infections and nutritional deficiencies) will then result in reduced allergic response.

MINERAL & VITAMIN DEFICIENCIES

The Vega Machine's positive or negative result indicates whether or not there is a deficiency of a vitamin or a mineral. The test does not determine an excess, though there are means by which an excess can be determined. Mineral/vitamin shortages are more common than many people believe and there are three main factors in this situation. Firstly the modern diet is high in processed and refined foods and low in raw, whole foods. Every stage of food processing reduces the nutrients in the food - for example, up to 50% of the vitamin content is absent from tinned vegetables. In addition the consumption of sugar and other highly refined carbohydrates depletes the body of chromium and magnesium.

Secondly, conventional/chemical farming produces crops from soil that is topped up with only the minerals necessary for crop growth as opposed to the mineral variety present normally, animal feed is as deficient for the animals as processed food is for humans. And thirdly, most people do not eat the World Health Organisation recommended minimum of five servings of fresh fruit and vegetables per day. It is easy to see why mineral and vitamin deficiencies are so common, and considering that vitamin/mineral excesses also cause problems, correct supplementation, if needed, is important.

ENVIRONMENTAL STRESSES

Environmental stresses are obscure, myriad and largely ignored by orthodox medicine.
